It's a good idea in principle James. I guess the problem, if you can call it that, is that there are so many variations.. it's gonna be hard work and any 'definitive guide' needs to be rock solid in terms of research & accuracy, otherwise you'll get a lot of models with slight variations not fitting in with the guide, and people believing they don't have a 'correct' model.

On the surface it sounds like a simple task, but the slight changes in dial design/hands/bezels/lettering etc will result in one heck of a project!
