Re: The 844 - Heuer's First Diver, What do we know?

: It's a good idea in principle James. I guess the problem, if you
: can call it that, is that there are so many variations.. it's
: gonna be hard work and any 'definitive guide' needs to be rock
: solid in terms of research & accuracy, otherwise you'll get
: a lot of models with slight variations not fitting in with the
: guide, and people believing they don't have a 'correct' model.

: On the surface it sounds like a simple task, but the slight changes
: in dial design/hands/bezels/lettering etc will result in one
: heck of a project!

Yep, it'd be no mean feat, but it's probably something worth considering doing, I think. These divers (in nice condition) are now changing hands for significant figures - moving some way away from the other early 980 Divers and other 'lesser' Heuer pieces (you can find Pasadenas and the French-made chronos for less £ than an 844). Some advice and guidance for sellers and buyers would be invaluable.

The more data, the better. It doesn't have to be definitive from day one - I doubt the information we had for the 1163 and 1533 was either. :)
