Rounded Numerals on "Rindt" Dials

Rich:

We try our hardest to discover or develop explanations, but I expect that this will remain one of the unsolvable mysteries of the vintage Heuers. After so many years of consistent Autavia dials (from 1962 until around 1967), and the return to the normal style soon after, this change must have been intentional, but I am at a loss to explain what they were intending. Perhaps Singer was trying to show Heuer a fresher look? Or perhaps Heuer initiated the change?

: It is an interesting topic.

: Do you think also a possibility they are from another dial maker,
: or the same dial maker just using a different "cliche"
: to print the sub dials for a short time? It is odd they did not
: use script with serif but I suspect not without exception. It is
: interesting to note all 85/86 serials and this would lead
: thoughts to a "batch" otherwise why are all
: transitional 3rd exec dials all serif dials and then later all
: serif dials too?
