In Response To: Heuer or TAG Heuer? ()

Hello,

I really fancy Tag Heuer watches. I plan to buy one soon, most probably a Monaco. I lurked on several forums to see if people are satisfied with their Tag heuer watches and discovered that some (many?) don't seem to like the brand since it's TAG Heuer and not simply Heuer anymore.

Yes, this is a pretty representative viewpoint.

My question would bewhy? I guess they're plenty of reasons and I'd like to find out more about it (because I won't buy one of their watches if the quality doesn't match the price). I don't expect you to give me your personnal reasons, but I would really appreciate it if you could direct me towards a website or a forum thread that would give the main reasons of why Heuer watches were better than the TAG Heuer ones.

Below I link to a Forum Thread I archived on this topic that occured originally over in the TimeZone Omega Forum. It's the cleaned up version of a thread over there that sounds pretty similar to your query. I hope it is useful to your understanding the dynamics of the feelings people have for Heuer and TAG-Heuer.

Who's the TAG in TAG-Heuer?:

Please don't consider this as a troll posting, I'm not here to start a fight, I just want to learn more about the brand and be sure to make the right decision.

No, not at all... While most of us here are Vintage Heuer collectors, we still pull strongly for the current firm and long for the day when they produce as many "classics" respectful watches as they do "Avant-Garde" models.

We don't fight/argue about Vintage vs. new around here. Much anyway, LOL!

Kind regards,

Great forum,

JM

Please follow-up with additional questions/thoughts.

P.S. THANK YOU JM for your assistance with Bryan's picture above in the forum!
