Can anyone tell me which movement is in this model? It is mint condition with the black dial / gold registers and black case & bracelet and gold bezel. Thanks, The Buccaneer.Hi Charles, I believe this should be a fairly straight forward question to answer...While having your "3k" in your hand, take a gander at the two following pictures: .jpg) | .jpg) | | Pasadena (750.501) Valjoux 7750 based. | Pilot's (130.006) LWO 283 based. | If the "3k" has the Chronoseconds sub-dial at 9 o'clock it's likely a Valjoux 7750 based movement, if it has small continuious seconds sub-dial at 12 o'clock it's likely a flavor of LWO 283 movement under the dial.Without a picture to go by, I'm only guessing, but I'd suspect that since the case reference number of your "3k" is 136.006, and the Pilot's Automatic model is 130.006 that the movement is a LWO 283. But that's just my best guess. |
I've written a bit about the Pilot's model, and mention the LWO 283 within that article in passing. I'll note that this movement I've seen 31, 39 and 40 jewel versions (hence why I'm using "a flavor of the LWO 283 movement" phrase in my response). To my knowledge the only way to determine which flavor/version is in a watch is via direct visual inspection.I hope this is helpful. If I remember the "3k"'s correctly they have a bit of a "Royal Oak" appearance about them and are interesting watches. Best of fortune with that watch. |
