Just a heads up, here's a 40j Hami version...

: Hello Chuck. I appreciate the information. The
: date window is at 3 o'clock position. The 12
: hour register is at 6 o'clock position. The
: 30 minute register is at 9 o'clock and the
: continuous seconds are at the 12 o'clock
: position. Same position as the automatic
: pilots watch, so it most likely has the LWO
: 283 as you suggest. It does have the Royal
: Oak appearance. I will email Jeff a picture
: of it for him to post with this message.
: Once again thank you, Charles.

Hello again,

Just in case anyone is interested... Here are a couple of pictures from a 40 jewel version of a LWO 283 powered Hamilton that was offered as a Buy It Now on eBay (number 5039804022 if you care to look it up):

Another way to visually confirm the presense of a ETA/LWO or ETA/Dubois-Depras "piggy-back" chronograph movement is the pushers, do not line up with the crown (as shown above).

Now that I think about it... (Flash of new insight) this is probably why the date on most LWO 283's have a "in-dial" cyclops magnifier... Since the main time keeping part of the movement is separated from the dial (the chrono module) it's probably necessary to have optical aid in order for the date to be easily legible.

Just a head's up with some additional information for your Tuesday morning!

Cheers!

Chuck
