| Well, the Labor Day holiday weekend is over. For those of you outside the USA, the purpose of this US holiday is like most US holidays -- to give millions of people the day off to go shopping. This not only boosts the economy here, ensuring the need for labor for the rest of the year, it also causes people to incur enough debt that they HAVE to labor for the rest of the year! This keeps the whole country from simply shutting down before the end of the year.
My contribution to the economic health of the country this year included buying another Omega! Not that I had planned to just yet. But sometimes these things just happen. Even more to my surprise, I became enamored with a... no, not another Seamaster... no, not that new Split-Second Speedmaster I'd been eyeing... no, not even that neat Constellation chronograph... this time it was a DeVille that reeled me in!!
Yes, a DeVille Prestige Chronometer in stainless steel. Beautiful dressy watch, no fancy functions, solid Omega automatic chronometer movement like in many of the current Seamaster and Constellations, and the enduring classic style that goes back as far as Omega itself. The photograph to the left does not do justice to the sparkle and reflectiveness of the highly polished steel finish. In normal lighting, the satin finish on the dial has a soft glow with the hands reflecting darker -- making an even more appealing contrast.
One of the particularly winning features for me is another of Omega's fantastic watch bracelets -- almost as fascinating as the watch itself. You may not immediately notice, but the link pattern curves to match the roundness of the watch. |
