I've never heard of a 12-month service check on a new watch. You shouldn't need service for another 4-5 years. If you have to send it in, I would send it in to Omega under warranty. Remember that if the watch is opened locally, the watch may no longer be "water tested" when it is returned. Five seconds a day is excellent timekeeping and probably not a good reason to send it in. You must remember that if it is a mechanical watch, quartz-like accuracy is extremely rare to non-existent. By what standard are you comparing your watch against?
