True. Though I have found that you can 'take a chance' in other ways going through authorized dealers too. Too many of them abuse the public trust of them as experts to get away with murder with misinformation, inflated accessory or repair prices and blowing off the customer on things the dealer is supposed to handle, but just doesn't want to because they are low/no profit tasks.
So the most informed decision is by far the best whichever route you take.

Agreed. Sounds like the best advice is to go through an Authorized, or at least Gray dealer of outstanding reputation for your first purchase. Then for future purchases, take the experience you gained from your *relatively safe* first purchase to decide how risky you want to go next time.
