Chronograph on a SMP

Hi all

I recently purchase a SMP Diver with the Chronograph on a Ti on Ti model (2298800). This is my first Omega and I absolutely love it. Bought it new from one of the authorise dealer in the City.

I read somewhere on Chronocentric that having the Chronograph running continuously will not wear or damage the working of the watch BUT I was at the Omega watch jeweller the other day, having the bracelet links shorten (one link off) to fit my wrist and was told by him that try not to use the chrograph unless I have to. I didnt ask why then but now I'm just curious and confuse about it. The big seconds hand look useless and wasted without the chronograph activated.

So please, if any, advise on whether its absolutely OK to have it on at all time or not.
