I assume you must be joking. But in case you're not, my decision to be honest and forthright with my wife is based upon mutual respect.
I don't lie to her or deceive her and she treats me the same respect. We've been married for 20 years and she has been my best friend throughout.
I disagree that its OK to lie and deceive your life partner in order to acquire a new watch. The fact that some may do it with impunity doesn't make it right. She earns half our income. There is no 'her money' or 'my money' there is only 'our money'.
I don't believe that respecting her right to know how I'm spending 'our money'... money that she worked for as hard as I did... is a sign of being 'whipped' or controlled by her.
With regard to your comment about my judging other people's relationships, all I can say is I haven't judged any specific relationship. I made a very general statement regarding honesty. You however, have strongly judged and characterized me and my relationship.
I'm sorry you got so ticked off by my idle comments, but I think your response, assuming it was serious, was inappropriate.
: You are ridiculous! Those suggestions were
: great! You are in no position to judge
: anyone else's relationship. Sounds like you
: are whipped by your wife having to justify
: everything you do. Nothing wrong with a
: little mystery and intrigue in a
: relationship!
