: As this is a Sea Pro forum, and, of course, we all know that
: James Bond wears one, I thought it appropriate to inform
: all of you of the death of actor Desmond LLewelyn - aka
: "Q". At the age of 85, he was killed in an auto
: accident in Europe over the last day or two. The character
: Q was always responsible for supplying Bond with the latest
: gadgets for espionage. Including the Seamasters with the
: laser, remote bomb detonation device and, in TWINE the
: escape cable to save Bond from peril. Just thought it would
: be of interest to this group as Mr Llewelyn always played
: the part with equal believibility and cantancorousness. I
: know that I've enjoyed seeing the newest high-tech
: equipment and especially the Seamaster Pros that
: "Q" had always offered to Bond for his approval,
: and usually, destruction!
Very sad indeed. He has been a fixture in the Bond films and it may be harder to replace him than it was to replace Timothy Dalton and Roger Moore. I can remember seeing Q in Bond films as a little kid and it's sad to hear that he's gone.
: Best regards, Eric P. Kuck
