Re: Need some Recommendations
In Response To: Need some Recommendations ()

My experience has been that if you are going to buy it from a local authorized Omega jeweler, make sure they are good (like make sure you get referrals from people, etc..). Many if not most of the jewelers I've ever run into are stuffy and talk down to potential customers. In my experience, they even discriminate against you by the way you dress or they way you might look.

I can't tell you how many times I've been virtually refused service, because the store employees don't think that I'm serious about buying anything.

In my case, I bought my 2551.80 from Ashford.com and was pleased with the experience. (PS-this model is not directly on their website, you have to do a search for it). Of course, if you do this, you still have to bring it into a local place to have the bracelet sized for your wrist. Make sure you goto someone who really knows Omegas. I made the mistake of first going to a place that didn't know Omegas as well as they should and they installed a link pin incorrectly, which caused it to be very loose. Had I not caught this in time, the entire watch could have fallen down on the cement and I would have been really angry.

After this happened, I brought the watch directly to an Omega service center and was very impressed with their customer service....

I believe that the cost savings from buying mailorder are definitely worth it.

: I need help. I am shopping for either the
: seamaster 2531.80 or the 2551.80 and I dont
: know where I should get it from. Im only 16
: years old and I have got the money to
: purchase one, but Ashford sounds very
: tempting. What should I do? I wont like to
: go to my local authorized omega dealer to
: purchase one because maybe they might
: critisize my age and convince my parents not
: letting me buy it. But on the other hand,
: since $1100 + dollars is alot of money for
: me, I dont want to take any risks. I would
: gladly take any recommendations on anything
: you might want to tell me. Thanks everybody
