I had one of my half links taken out too. My authorized dealer didn't protest. No problems so far. If you are going to have an asymmetric number of links on each side of the clasp, however, have the shorter side be on the medial side of your wrist (the side closest to your body). This will keep the watch from sliding away from you when you raise your wrist to look at it.
