Quartz, Quartz, quartz!
In Response To: Poll: Automatic vs. Quartz ()

Either automatic or or quartz, we're all paying for the outside 'jewelry'. That finish is what gives it the Swiss Made appeal. A good portion of the watch is made outside of Switzerland such as the band. If you are interested there was a lengthy article as to what is actually necessary to call it 'swiss made'. I was shocked by what I read.

As far as Omega is concered, you are comparing a $5 to a $25 movement.

Why did I choose quartz? Low maintanance, high shock resistance, low repair cost, and high accuracy.

OK, it doesn't have the same soul as automatic, so I got a Seiko 5 to play with and watch the movement. I use it as a dress watch. My SMP007 is supposed to be my every day tough environment watch. No room for mistakes here.
