Automatic!

In Response To: Poll: Automatic vs. Quartz ()

I've gotta agree with Keith on this one. I own an assortment of watches (10), and the automatics definitely have more soul than the quartz's. In fact, I've committed myself to never buying another quartz (like I need any more time pieces). I appreciate the appearance of the automatics more, and, frankly, don't work hard enought that I'd have to worry about destroying the watch in the field somewhere (I work in offices...). If you need a watch to hack around and possibly wreck, get a cheap watch for under $100 and let it get ruined... that's what my (5) quartz ones are for. The (5) automatics are the dressy everyday ones that I wear on a daily basis. I don't think that they're any less durable, mind you, I just don't think I'd like to scratch an $1100-5000 watch when I'm on a construction site, working on a weekend project, or digging in the basement.
