Yup, that is correct about service on mechanical watches. Its recommended every 4-5 years. And, losing about 1-2 minutes a day is not fine. My guess is that the overhaul will cost around $200-$300 dollars USD. If the dealer wants anything more than that I would try to find a local independent that might service it for less. At 8 years old, sounds like it does need the "overhaul"
