I've changed batteries in two X-33's (Gen 2) and they didn't require a reset, they just needed the time, date, etc. resetting. This subject comes up quite frequently and the general consensus is that when a new battery is fitted, it may not be as new as it's supposed to be. The battery, as you may be aware, is a Lithium 3v CR2320 (I use Swiss made Renata) or equivalent so my first move would be to replace the battery again. A great watch though with a host of useful features, here's mine and below it is a link which you might find a useful read, especially regarding the use of cheap batteries, just scroll down the page when it loads...
