Why I bought my Omega 2264.50 Quartz *PIC*

Hi all, my very first Omega, first forum post too. I spent a good month researching watches before purchasing.

I love my 2264.50 Omega Seamaster Pro 300M Quartz, steel w. black dial & bezel. Here's why it's my -perfect- watch:

is it a quality timepiece? Y Omega, a respected name brand
does it have a date function? Y white on black background
does it have a second hand? Y with glow marker and red tip
is it a classy watch? Y can be worn with suit
is it a rugged watch? Y can be worn on the job
is it a sporty watch? Y can be worn playing tennis
is it a clean watch? Y nothing gaudy on this watch
is it just the right size for my wrist? Y 41mm case diameter
is the watch relatively thin? Y 11.4mm thick, just right
does it have a metal band that doesn't pull hair? Y great design, I like how two opposite buttons must depress to unclasp
does the band incorporate half-links? Y for fine adjustment
does the band incorporate a diver's extension? Y nice feature to have when you need it
does it have super strong glow hands and markers? Y the strongest I've seen
is it really easy to read the time, day or night? Y that's an understatement - can be read from any angle, in any lighting
is it heavily water resistant? Y 300 m / 1000 ft
does it keep accurate time? Y Omega Quartz 1538 with * low battery indicator * (important)
does it have a sweeping second hand? N it ticks second by second - I like sweeping motion better
is it a mechanical work of art? N it's a quartz…electronics + battery driving a tiny stepper motor
is it an electrical work of art? Y it's a beautiful & reliable piece of electrical design and engineering
is the watch low maintenance? Y battery change required only (no lube job maintenance req'd)
is the watch free of any high cost maintenance? Y absolutely nothing to do except change the battery
does it have a rotating bezel with glow marker? Y 120 clicks for full rotation
does it have a domed sapphire glass? Y with AR coating on inside
does it have a textured caseback? Y added friction against wrist helps keep watch from sliding

And here's my take on 2nd place Omega 2254.50 which is the automatic version of my 2264.50

is it a quality timepiece? Y Omega, a respected name brand
does it have a date function? Y white on black background
does it have a second hand? Y with glow marker and red tip
is it a classy watch? Y can be worn with suit
is it a rugged watch? Y can be worn on the job
is it a sporty watch? Y can be worn playing tennis
is it a clean watch? Y nothing gaudy on this watch
is the watch relatively thin? Y 11.4mm thick, just right
is it just the right size for my wrist? Y 41mm case diameter
does it have a metal band that doesn't pull hair? Y great design, I like how two opposite buttons must depress to unclasp
does the band incorporate half-links? Y for fine adjustment
does the band incorporate a diver's extension? Y nice feature to have when you need it
does it have super strong glow hands and markers? Y the strongest I've seen
is it really easy to read the time, day or night? Y that's an understatement - can be read from any angle, in any lighting
is it heavily water resistant? Y 300 m / 1000 ft
does it keep accurate time? Y if watch is properly adjusted will be almost as accurate as quartz
does it have a sweeping second hand? Y lovely…
is it a mechanical work of art? Y Omega 1120 Automatic 28,800 bph, it's a georgous beating heart!
is it an electrical work of art? N no electronics
is the watch low maintenance? Y lube job tune-ups and minor time adjustments only (no battery to replace)
is the watch free of any high cost maintenance? N necessary eventual lube jobs down the road will cost $$hundreds
does it have a rotating bezel with glow marker? Y 120 clicks for full rotation
does it have a domed sapphire glass? Y with AR coating on inside
does it have a textured caseback? Y added friction against wrist helps keep watch from sliding

So after looking at many brand name watches it boiled down to two finalists: Omega 2264.50 vs. Omega 2254.50
The 2254.50 will need a lube job 10,20,30,40 years down the road costing big $$ but the mechanical self powered movement is just very cool
The 2264.50 is more accurate. At 40yrs old all I would have done is replaced the battery a bunch of times, costing minimal$$
If the 2254.50 incorporated a 2500c co-axial movement, it would be my purchase, but it does not, so I bought and am very happy
with the Omega Seamaster Pro 2264.50 Quartz. Will the electronics last 50+ years? Time will tell. I know a buddy who claims
his Casio quartz watch is 30 years old. I've seen it and it looks good to me, still keeps good time and the alarm still works.
