: I have a Seamaster w/ serial # 40807279, using this in part, I have
: found that this watch is a 1977 with quartz movement. It has day
: and date. Appears to have the original band and clasp, SS back
: w/logo.

: What I would like to know; are the case and bezel gold, gold
: plated, gold filled (can that be discovered w/o a jewelers
: test)? is there anything special about this watch?

: I'm going to try and sell this watch for $550, am I nutz?

: Any info would be appreciated.

Since you have the serial number from the movement, you have obviously had the case open.

Also on the movement would be a 4 digit calibre number, near the Greek letter Omega. Did you note it?
Inside the case back would be a model/case number of digits like this xxx.xxxx or xxx.xxx, possibly followed by a few letters. Did you note it?
These numbers can help us more closely identify the watch and more accurately match it to recent completed sales on Ebay, your best source for relative values.

Generally speaking, Omega combined stainless backs with gold capped cases and bezels. If otherwise, the case will have a 14k (0.585) or 18k (0.750) gold proof marking.

Watches are worth what someone will pay for them.
