I can't say what your watch will do, I can only report what occurred with my 3 watches, an SMP, a Fortis, and a tag. All 3 use different ETA movements.
I've heard of lots of people who's watches are dead on out of the box and stay that way. There are some folks that think the break in period is a myth.
Perhaps for one reason or another some watches require more break in than others. As an example will a watch sitting in a jeweler's shop unwound for 7 or 8 months require a different break in period from one manufactured 3 weeks ago?
I suppose its just as possible your watch will speed up, stay the same or slow down. Even if it does slow down a second or two, its still within spec The first time you bang it, it could be a whole new ballgame no matter how its performing now.
My advice to you, don't sweat was hasn't happened yet. Just enjoy it and be greatful that your's is not 20 seconds slow out of the box as another owners watch was last week.
: that my two-week old SMP that loses about a
: second or two a day (-1/-2 day; +0/+1
: night)is in danger of getting worse? I know
: it's within specs now, but should I expect
: it to get out of specs as it gets past the
: break-in period?
: BTW, Mark, I've read a lot of your posts and
: you seem pretty knowledgeable. Thanks for
: your input, not just on this question, but
: on all the other ones you've taken time to
: reply to. Nice to have folks willing to
: share their knowledge and experience.
