It has nothing to do with telling time or something being worth the money. A $30 Timex is more accurate.
It's really about taste, your self image and your financial resources. I would love a Sub, SeaDweller or an Explorer II, but I can't reconcile the extra expense vs what I would get at this point in my life.
You can also buy $25,000 Pateks which may be less accurate than an SMP. In the rarefied fine watch arena opinions are as much (or more) subjective as they are objective.
