All of what you say is true, but why go with the quartz? For only about 15-20% more, get the mechanical version. It's every bit as accurate and has FAR better resale value should you ever need it. If quartz accuracy is what you want, that shouldn't be a problem either. My SeaMaster 120M is rarely 'off' by more than 2 seconds a month. Yes, a month! It varies a bit from day to day, but averages out to a very small amount over time. It seems to be more dependent upon ambient temperature than anything else I may do to it. So consider the mechanical version seriously.
