new speedmaster

I've been thinking about purchasing a new watch recently but am reluctant about spending the $$$ on myself for an expensive one. Last year I purchased a new Omega for my fiancee'. Today she surprised me with a new Speedmaster (black face, three dial, date). Funny thing is, I just ordered a new watch(much cheaper Promaster Citizen - Thunderbirds Navihawk) so now I'll have two I suppose. Question: My fiancee' wants me to use it as a daily watch (no abuse, just the office and such) but doesn't it make anyone a little nervous wearing a $1500 watch everyday? I'm a bit AR, so I would hate to scratch such a pricey watch. Hers is a high polish, so I'm always kidding her "don't scratch it." Anyway, it's nice knowing we both have watches that will last our lifetimes and beyond.
