Yes.

Rolex made a model, I believe it was called the Millgauss, which was very heavily magnetically shielded. But other than a vintage specialty mechanical watch like that, then you really do need to go with something quartz.

In the US, I've noticed an advantage buying at the end of January. Many jewelers are hurting then because of all the after-Christmas returns and want to bolster January sales. But in general, the best dealers give you the same price all year around instead of playing negotiation games.
