My take...
In Response To: SMP 300 vs Bond SE ()

Being a big Bond fan, I have a few ways to lok at the latest marketing ploy from Swatch Inc. Firstly, I do not like this design (the LE 007). Because, its just too over the top for a model that will have 10,007 owners. If there were 1,007 models (like Derek said I believe), then I would be much more supportive of it. But, this watch just looks too gaudy. The SMP 2531.80 is a beautiful design. Its sporty, dressy, and very subtle. Also, even the most hard core Bond fan would probably pass on this watch beacause its not the one he really wore in the movies. IMO the LE is basically a 2600$ Fossil special edition. To those who have bought it, thats great, you bought it because YOU thought it was what you liked the most. This is just my opinion. Had they made the design less in your face (like removed the 007 on the clasp and 007 wave design) then my opinion would be different. But, I feel that the price does not justify the cost of the watch. I would spring for the standard Bond for these two reasons (yours may very of course)

1)The 2531 is the actual model James Bond uses in the movies.

2)In the event my interest in Bond fades (or do not want the 007 aura following me) the normal design is still a fantastic looking/working watch in its own right.

But, I could try for the LE for these other 2

1)The LE features raised markings and kind of updates the classic Bond design.

2)Overall, the design of the watch is similar and the caseback engraving is very appropriate (the gun barrel)

In the end, try them on and go with which ever you think would please you 3 years from now.
