I agree. Fitting anything in there along with a mechanical movement would be tough. They could easily substitute a very small ladies quartz watch movement and have room left. Harder, but not impossible to do with a very small mechanical movement.

I read in an interview with the effects coordinator for "The World Is Not Enough" that one of the hardest things they had to do was the special work designing, building, and installing the tiny gadgets on the stunt watches.
