Have been supremely happy with my two Rolexes bought new in 1973-75. However, classic Omegas are one of the main targets of my collection, since they combine outstanding value for the money, interesting design, are not difficult to keep in service, and are reliable timekeepers. Would not buy a new Rolex nor a new Omega (speedy pro a possible exception) today. Rolex is perceived by those who don't know much about watches (and there's no reason why they should) as being the "best" watch, the same way Cadillac is viewed by the majority as being the best car, altho the enthusiast knows a dozen alternatives.
