Re: Here's Darrens watch & some more Info..

:Hi steve.. Thanks for posting my details! it makes me think that without the web & your expert advice how would one find this amount of detail & knowledge through books? when books themselves sometimes have scetchy knowledge a best!!...any ive orded all the parts from watchco including a set of hands, ive probely overspent on this watch before i start to reconstuct it back to life, but it kills me knowing what it could look like with a bit of time and work! a lesson i think from your superb flightmaster cal 910 put my mind at rest!

: Hi Guys,
: Hi Darren.

: Firstly Darren sent me some pics of his watch.
: here's one of them.

:

: & now here are "Anakin" &
: "Darth" at the Omega Museum in
: Bienne.

:

: So, what do we see ?
: IF ( & that's a big IF ) we ignore the
: subdial at 09:00 the rest of the dial looks
: close enough to be genuine. the blue
: markings on the subdials, the raised logo,
: the white second & sub-second markings
: around the outside, the "clumsy"
: markings in the subdials etc etc.

: Darren sent me a few pics. I chose this one,
: because it also appears to show some
: mirroring / shiney areas around the outside
: of the subdials. This is also NOT there on
: the dials that I have seen.

: Unfortunately Darrens pic isn't really sharp
: enough to be able to tell if it is genuine
: or a good re-dial.

: I certainly wouldn't want to call it either
: way.

: All I can say is that I have never seen a dial
: with the red sub-dial at 09:00 before.

: Finally Darren also mentions in his E-mail a
: picture in the Goldberger book ( page 156 ).
: If you own this book, I suggest you put a
: small note on this page, noting that the
: watch pictured there is a complete
: frankenwatch ( That's a Jackalope for Sam !
: ). I have deliberately NOT scanned this
: picture, because I don't believe posting
: frankenwatches in public places is a good
: Idea. Someone will save the picture , then
: forget what it was about & possibly post
: it later as a genuine/rare
: "Darth".

: Anyway, the dial is from this watch ( on the
: right )

:

: That dial was never fitted to a "Darth
: Vader" Seamaster ( Also the hands are
: wrong in Golbergers book.... also the
: Seamaster 300 pictured on page 148 is a
: fake.... also his name is spellt wrongly on
: the inside of the rear cover... )

: BTW. Darren look at the white chrono hands on
: the Seamaster above ( again far right
: watch). They look like yours !

: Anyway Darren, I hope I have answered a few
: more of your questions.

: All the Best

: Steve
