Different case manufacturers? (revised)
In Response To: Different case manufacturers? ()

P.S. The movment number is 13641093, and I have detailed pics if anybody wants to see, just ask.

: I recently bought a vintage Omega. It was
: reported to have been purchased in 1955 and
: the inscription on the back indicates this.
: It appears to be a seamaster however it does
: not say so on the face. It is two toned with
: arrowhead markers and dauphine hands. It
: features a manual wind, 17 jewel 420 cal
: movement. However the big problem is that
: the case back is stamped "Star Watch
: Case Co." on the inside and on the
: outside "base metal". The movement
: is not held in by retaining screws, but
: rather centered with a spacer ring. It is
: secure when screwed down.

: The case itself appears to be gold plated but I
: find no proof mark. I was told it was a
: common practice to use Omega movements in
: American made cases to avoid importation
: restrictions or taxes years ago. Is this
: true? Do I have a "Frankenwatch"?
