Re: Watch for Marine
In Response To: Watch for Marine ()

Living in Israel (whose weather is more or less like in Iraq) and serving in the Army a few years ago I will have to go with a... G Shock.
This is also the unified opinion in various Israeli military forums- not only it is very durable, but you will not miss much if something happens to it (and something might in warfare conditions)

: Hi Everyone,

: It has been a while since my last post. Since
: then, I am glad to say that my SMP has
: functioned correctly and the 'fine' people
: at authenticwatches have repaired it twice
: 'free of charge'.

: My question today is not about Omega, but I
: could not find the appropriate forum to ask
: so I hope you can help.

: My brother-in-law is a Marine Scout Sniper
: school graduate as of this week and will be
: returning to Iraq for his second tour in
: March. I really want to get him a
: functional, durable watch (he currently
: wears a timex) to take with him. What should
: I get? I would really like something in the
: $200-$300 range with a rubber strap.

: Since I don't fire many guns and have never
: been in any type of situation such as the
: sand and temperatures of Iraq, I am
: completely lost. Most of the information I
: find online suggests something like a
: G-shock from Casio. I don't mind buying him
: a $50 Wal-mart special if that is what will
: do the job, but I know you guys have
: something better in mind.

: Suggestions?

: Is there another forum I should move this
: message to?

: Thanks in advance,

: Chris
