The recoil is less of a worry

than the knocking and banging the watch will get while its wearer is crawling around in the desert and/or buildings to set up for a shot, or to QUICKLY get out of the way of anything incoming. The USMC current sniper rifle is the M40A3 that weighs 17 pounds, and shoots the relatively mild 7.62 x 51 (.308) round. Even if one of the big Barrett M82's or Armalite AR-50's in the humongous 50 BMG caliber is being shot, the delivered recoil to EITHER wrist is pretty minimal. All the 50's have muzzle brakes on them, and when you're holding a rifle the recoil isn't transmitted into your hands very much, unlike shooting a DE 50, where your wrists WILL take a stout beating.
