how bad is date setting?

Hey all,

The instructions for all my autos say not to adjust the date past 8pm. I guess that's because the gears are beginning to get ready to adjust the date.

I tried it once just to see. I tried moving the date forward on my Ulysse Nardin right around 8:30PM and the date adjuster was making a clicking sound.

Then, I moved the time forward to about 3am and tried again. This time the date adjuster turned very smoothly and the dates clicked into place nicely.

So, my question is, how bad is it for your watch if you continue this and is it ONLY after 8PM, or is it 8AM also? I'm thinking only 8PM.

Thanks and have a great day,

Tom
