Re: SMP, unique cleaning tip
In Response To: SMP, unique cleaning tip ()

Sounds like a good cleaning idea. I always felt that Simple Green was an excellent cleaner for so much more, and never thought of that.

I would always suggest a "soft" toothbrush...Some toothbrushes can be harder than the soap.

: Hey all,

: I had to go back to my jeweler today, (for
: something else), and I was able to talk to
: the watch-guy while he was on break.

: I asked him what's the best way to clean my SMP
: SS band, etc. He told me their unique
: solution -

: To remove the normal gunk / oil residue, as
: well as keep the band clean and shiny: (Do
: every three months...)

: 1 Part "Simple Green Concentrate" (1
: OZ)
: 30 Parts distilled (luke-warm) water (1 QT)

: **Put this in a spray bottle (shake well)

: You'll need: 1 Sponge (or toothbrush)
: 1 Bottle (spray or squeeze)

: Clean with solution**

: Rinse thoroughly with distilled water. (You can
: soak entire watch this time.)

: Wipe off any excess moisture and wipe down with
: a lint-free cloth.

: **NOTE: he does NOT recommend drowning the
: entire watch in the solution (e.g. a bowl)
: -- use a toothbrush (or a piece of sponge)
: to clean the band and the underside of the
: watch body.
