Many of the earlier generation (pre-1960) Seamaster do not have anything on the outside of the caseback.
During this time, Omega sometimes engraved the word "Seamaster' on the back, sometimes not.
Around 1960, Omega began to use the hippocampus logo for Seamasters. On the manual wind versions (Seamaster "30" and "60") the logo was usually engraved into the case. On the automatic versions, the logo was usually raised.
However, there are always exceptions to the above!
