Old Seamaster's Power Reserve

I've just acquired a ~1974 Seamaster Day/Date automatic with a 1020 movement and the power reserve seems to be...about 11.5 hours MAX even when I fully hand-wind it, maybe its closer to 9 before it stops. Or I think I've fully hand-wound it (there is a lot of resistance, and then it lets up for the rest of the turn and then there's resistance again). Will servicing help this? This is a really short reserve, especially for a fully wound watch, and I hope it can be fixed. Appreciate any help!
