I'm pretty sure that it might add a bit of wear and tear, but as long as you are semi regular with your watch cleanings, it should be fine. I've played tennis for many years with my SMP Chronometer/chronograph and it still runs great.

Just the other week, I forgot to take it off while I was camping and chopping down trees for firewood. It did seem to jump a bit too, but it's running back to perfect again (loses a second every week or so).

The SMPs are about as rugged safe as you are going to get with an Omega (save for the battery powered ones) so I wouldn't lose sleep over it. It's probably not the greatest thing for it, but neither is taking my Cherokee up overgrown logging roads. Both are going to happen and both will survive (I hope)...
