Ploprof 600 service

My father is the original owner of a Ploprof 600 that is in need of service. It is cosmetically perfect, but stopped running a few years ago. It has never been serviced.

The question is how to proceed with service. He'd like to send it to Omega rather than to an independent watchmaker. I've emailed Bienne using the email address on Bill C.'s webpage and am waiting for an answer from them. I also called Omega in NJ, and they said to send the watch to them for "evaluation." If it needed to go to Bienne, they would send it for us.

Is there a preferred way to go here? It seems no carrier I know of will insure a watch for international shipping, so we'd have to get separate insurance coverage for shipping the watch to Bienne directly.
