You don't sound crazy. I had a speck of dust on the inside of my black auto SMP. Brought new from a huge AD in the UK.
I took the watch back and the tech had a look at it, one hour later I picked it up. When I got home and had a closer look a hair or bristle was on the 7 o'clock marker so had to take it back again the next day...Long story but it turned out, after an argument with the store manager, talking to customer care etc, the tech had opened my watch up and in the process voided the warranty and also damaged the winder weight thing inside so it would not wind by wearing it.
I eventualy got a new watch.
I know what you mean though, because the crystal has a magnification property it did look as though it was inside the crystal.
I'd take it back to the place you brought it, and make sure you know what they intend to do. I was assured the watch would not have to be opened.
