In Response To: 176.0012 Custom Case (JohnK)

Steve - If you ever cross paths with Gilliam, I'd like to know the price.

I suspect it's several hundred dollars [or Euros]...

Chuck - What are the differences between the Mark IV and 176.0012 case.

To my knowledge there isn't any. I know the "movement puck" for a Mark IV and Speedmaster 125 are interchangeable, I'm assuming that the 176.0012 may well be too. Gilliam is likely to know either way, I'm just guessing.

Also guys, It occurs to me that you don't need a spare case.

That's true, you don't need to have a spare case. One could simply sed Gilliam a 176.0012 and he can modify it.

Isn't the custom one machined from a blank?

No, as far as I know and as I remember, Gilliam modifies an existing 176.0012. At one time he had pictures he took of the immediate steps posted along with one of his auctions/sales. Unfortunately, I didn't grab/archive those shots.

If he cuts down an existing case, then I misunderstood.

It is my understanding he modifies a standard case, not a blank. But he's the person to ask, not me.

Thanks,

John

I'm interested in getting my case modified just so you both know...
