Ironically the watch I own which is most noticed…
In Response To: Watch Recognition ()

: I have been wearing an Omega Seamaster Titanium
: Chronograph (2289.80)for 4 ½ years every day
: and have never even had it noticed or
: complemented upon once. I can’t explain why
: but I bought a Rolex Submariner Friday and
: have received 11 compliments in 2 days.
: Don’t get me wrong I could care less about
: the complements I am just stating a fact.
: What I do care about is I was in bars both
: Friday and Sat. evenings and have had 3
: women buy me drinks. This usually does not
: happen. Here is the point at $10.00 per
: drink with tip that’s $30.00 a week so the
: watch will be paid for in less then 3 years.

Ironically the watch I own which is most noticed is one that most watch addicts and collectors would turn their collective noses at... My TAG-Heuer Kirium Quartz Chronograph...

[Sorry, picture was taken with a camera that, well, I've had at least three and perhaps four newer DC's since I took that snap]

I bought it about this time of year 9 years ago and in the first month I owned it I had more than a dozen people ask to see it, go out of their way to ask me the time, etc. just to get a closer look at it. It is a very unusual looking watch [but no more so than a Speedsonic Lobstertail], but for some reason people were attracted to it like insects to a bug zapper.

Go figure!

So I personally wouldn't read anything significant into the general public being interested in one's watch. Sometimes they are interested for unfathomable reasons.
