Re: Omega Seamaster f300 Chronometer

: Gentlemen, I have recently purchased this Omega
: Seamaster. Doing some search on the Internet
: I found only a few examples of this watch.
: Not one had the depth rating on it's dial as
: this one does. So can any of you gents tell
: me more about this dial ? Is it more rare ?
: Thanks in advance for your help.

This is only my humble opinion, but having had many of these watches pass through my hands i hope it is a valid one.
The Seamaster f300 models 198.005 and 198.0016 were both rated at 120m, most i have seen have not had this printed on the dial. I had thought initially that perhaps later ones... 1975 on had the rating on the dial, i have since discovered this not to be the case.
I therefore have concluded that it would have been due to localised marketing, ie perhaps in global regions were depth ratings were important to buyers of practical diving watches..most likely in Australia and certain USA markets.

The above is just my thoughts based on the models i have had and those of owners i have had contact with..but i hope that it is useful.

IMHO the SM 120m f300 with the depth rating on the dial is more of a rarity than those with out, and yours is certainly a nice example..( slightly jealous)

Regards Keith

PS Merry Christmas to all...
