Wow, Sam, this was in Cooksey?

I think you would almost have an action against them.

I have seen these cases in Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam, and so I have an inkling that they have a Vietnamese provenance if we can call it that. The dial is also a 'homage' dial - frightening!

There are quite a few of these around, all featuring Omega movements. Last one that was flogged as original was through Washington Jewelers.

What a pity Omega never made such a variation of the Grand Luxe. I have to admit that it looks a million dollars.

Worst I ever did was years ago when I bought a Connie movement in a Seamaster case with a gold coloured dial - I thought it rare at the time, but on reflection I think it was the attraction of 'rare' that over-rode rational thought. It became a parts watch!

: Well, not recently. . .

: What was the worst purchase that you ever made -- and didn't get
: out of?

: I have had several watches I purchased that were not running, and I
: managed to send them back and get my money back.

: But sometimes, I got exactly what I was looking at -- and it was
: just wrong.

:
:

: This is an Omega movement. In a US-origin case. With a bezel pasted
: on and a crystal forced on. With a badly done redial and
: mismatched hands. I blame my purchase on the very unreliable
: Price Guide to Watches by Cooksey Shugart and cohorts, which
: listed this watch. Omega never made a watch like this -- not
: even close.

: I bought it at a glance in the book with a last minute bid and no
: other research. When I got it, it looked just like the photo --
: which actually showed it to be a POS if I hadn't been in a
: hurry. I think I will sacrifice this and make it a parts watch.

: What's your worst?
