Waterproofness woes...
Hi David, your story is somewhat typical and I can't say anything about how the pusher was changed of course.
Anyway most Speedmasters are just waterproof to 30 or 50 m, which means a pressure of 3 or 5 atm. It is the pressure in fact that matters most and may make the damage, and when diving or under a strong shower pressures can reach unexpectedly high values. Even if yours claims 10 atm, remember these are lab results for a new watch.
So, also from what I have learnt from the cognoscenti here and on other fora and based on the documentation Omega themselves provide, I have decided I never ever have a bath or shower or swim with a watch I really care for and is worth a little bit.
In the end, my advice is: if you do want to use your watch in water, forget the Speedmasters and go for a Seamaster instead. If on the other hand you want to stick with the Speedy, as I do myself, then take it off any time you go into water, no matter where and at which depth / pressure.
Hope this can help.
Cheers.
