Old Pocket Watches

Hello

I'm new to watch collecting and starting off with old pocket watches from the early 1900's; mostly Elgin, Waltham, and now Omega. I was wondering if anyone knew when Omega started using the Greek letter on their dials? There is a watch dating to 1915 that doesn't have the Greek letter. Are the dials w/o the letter replacement dials?

Also, where do people look up watches by serial number? Not just Omega, but any watch?
