Re: Old Pocket Watches
In Response To: Old Pocket Watches ()

Do not know much about the pocket watches, but I do know that the use of the Omega name and the greek letter symbol dates back to at least 1900.

But in the early 1900's is also was not unusual for Omega to make watches that were private labeled under another name. Or to make movements that were sold to be assembled into watch cases by other companies who may not have applied the Omega logo in the same manner as those coming fully assembled from the Omega factory.

: Also, where do people look up watches by serial
: number? Not just Omega, but any watch?

There is no universal resource for serial numbers. Each company does theirs their own way. Some use systems that are predictable, so you can find collector guides that give you the rules for interpreting serial numbers of some brands.
