In Response To: Re: Authorized vs. GM ()

: Get this............. And you figure it out. I bought a quartz
: Seamaster Omega from an auth. dealer in 3/98. After
: checking the manuf. date on this watch, it turned out that
: the watch was manuf. in 4/93!....(I was kinda' mad).

: OK,....I decide to upgrade to the Seamaster, Chrono (I
: absolutly LOVE the size of this watch) and because of the
: cost, I went "grey". Big sin? I don't think
: so.... (It came with the serial no. intact, and is
: currently holding LESS than 1 sec a day)!

: Here is the weird part, My grey manufd. watch was made, and
: sent out (from Omega in Switzerland) in July 99! (actually
: only three days BEFORE the "Grey" market dealer
: sent it to me). I verified these dates with, not only Omega
: Switz. but with Omega Pa..... Go figure! I have a feeling I
: got extremely lucky! (I checked TWO times with PA, because
: I didn't believe the dates.) Most of the grey watches I've
: read about other people receiving, were at least a year
: old. NO body gets a watch that new! I got lucky! (and I
: wouldn't expect that to happen ever again).

: Considering that the original warranty is ONLY 1 year (and
: believe me, one year goes fast) I have no problem saving
: $800.00 on the purchase of my beautiful new Chrono
: Seamaster. (I still have the "grey" dealer one
: year warranty, if needed.)

: If it wasn't for "grey", I wouldn't currently own
: the Seamaster chrono, I have been looking at, and admiring,
: for the last two years. (I bought the quartz because I
: couldn't afford the Chrono)

: I don't think I have EVER owned somthing I have loved so much.
: She's my baby.......It doesn't matter where I purchased it,
: It's still an Omega, and now I have the watch I always
: wanted!

I too bought "grey market" and am extremely satisfied. I still say read the "Omega Horror Story" web sight about someone that got rooked by an authorized dealer. Everytime someone says they saved over 35% from an authorized dealer I never see them post where they bought from. Doesn't Omega forbid their authorized dealers from selling below 20%?

Dave.
