Manual wind Prefered *PIC* Posted By: David Alstott Date: 12/11/05 19:11 GMT
In Response To: to set the date or not (angus hasloch) Angus Hasloch... That HAS to be a Scotish name! - : I'm intrigued to know whether you guys set the
- : correct date when you're wearing a different
- : watch.
Yes I am compulsive enough to have to have the correct date whenever I switch watches. Me too...
It is a pain with the multiple day, date, month, and moon models so I find I don't wear them as often. Day-Date doesn't bother me much (as long as it's a quick set... But I agree on the Month Moonphase models.
Of all the watches I own, the manual wind no date ones are my favorites. Here are a couple of oldies I have had for some time.
The Gallet is the first real watch that I had and received it for X-mas 1959. It cost around $50.00. Great watch! I wonder what $50 in 1959 would be worth in today's dollars.
The Rolex I bought as a reward to myself for passing an important examination in 1968. I had to order it as no one stocked them in Indianapolis. It cost $215.00 plus $4.30 sales tax. Geez! You have one of THOSE!!! That's a James Bond/George Lazenbee/Sir Hillary Bray Rolex Pre-Daytona Cosmograph! WOW! |
George Lazenbee's Rolex...
To some there is beauty in simplicity. The only time "James Bond" used a mechanical chronograph in one of the films was in On Her Majesties Secret Service... I've always loved that model Rolex. Would love to have one someday. Maybe when I win the Lottery...
Until then I'll drool!
Guys, I think we can pack it in... David's trumped all of us! |
