Re: Non-Heuer Jackie Ickx Easy Rider Duo

I bought a Jackie Ickx Easy Rider Chronograph around 1973 (I still have it). It came in the blue helmet and had a SS bracelet. It broke almost immediately. I brought it to Heuer in Springfield NJ to have it fixed and they said that it "wasn't a real Heuer". I intrepreted that to mean "junk". It ran again for about a year but the chrome plating started to come off and I threw it in drawer where it sits. A couple of years ago I met Ickx at a Porsche event at Lime Rock raceway in Conn. I told him I had thewatch and he said, "Oh, it is a terrible watch!" I said, mine ran for about two years. He said "two years, you were very lucky".

I have a TAG Heuer on my wrist now but it took 30 years before I would consider buying another.
