Yes - I am a Sniper and rarely lose an auction. I use a server based system (AuctionSniper) which automatically puts an eBay proxy bid in about 5 seconds before the auction closes. Helps keep potshot bids away which would push up the price. At the end of the day the Snipe only goes up to the maximum amount you are prepared to bid. If someone else has set a higher proxy bid, you lose with no time to react. All fair and you do not need to sit up into the wee hours watching the auction. Try it!
